If you’re having trouble connecting to your wireless display, try the following to fix things:

  • Make sure your Windows 11 device supports Miracast. To check on your PC, press the Windows logo key  + K. If your device doesn't support Miracast, you might see a message saying you need to connect an external display with a cable.

  • Make sure Wi-Fi is turned on. To do this on your PC, select the Network icon at the far right of the taskbar, and then check the Wi-Fi quick setting.

  • Make sure the display supports Miracast and verify it's turned on. If your wireless display doesn't support Miracast, you’ll need a Miracast adapter (sometimes called a dongle) that plugs into an HDMI port.

  • Make sure the Wireless display app is installed on the target PC. If the device you're connecting to is another Windows PC, the Wireless display app (an optional feature in Windows) needs to be installed.

    • If the target PC is not discoverable, try entering wireless display in the search box on the taskbar, and selecting it in the list of results. Now check for this device on the device you want to project from. For more information, see Use screen mirroring and projecting.

    • On the target PC, go to Settings  > System > Projecting to this PC and make sure it's set up to be discovered.

  • Make sure your device drivers are up to date and the latest firmware is installed for your wireless display, or adapter. See the support info on the manufacturer's website for instructions, or search Microsoft Store for your manufacturer's app to help you.

  • Restart your PC and the wireless display.

  • Remove the wireless display, and then reconnect it. To remove the device, open Settings, and then select Bluetooth & devices > Devices. Under Wireless displays & docks, select the wireless display, or adapter you want to remove, then select Remove device. After that, try reconnecting.

Support for Windows 10 will end in October 2025

After October 14, 2025, Microsoft will no longer provide free software updates from Windows Update, technical assistance, or security fixes for Windows 10. Your PC will still work, but we recommend moving to Windows 11.
