Customize your avatar in Microsoft Teams

Choose how you're represented in Teams meetings with a wide range of body shapes, facial features, and fine-tuning options. Then select your favorite hair styles, wardrobe, make-up options, and more. Save up to three avatars for different meeting types such as casual, professional, or day-to-day.

The same avatars that you create are also the ones you can use when joining an immersive space from a Teams meeting or a Microsoft Mesh experience

Open the Avatars app

To customize your avatar, open the Avatars app in Microsoft Teams. Choose your avatar on the right, then select Customize to begin.

Adjust your skin tone

At the top of the screen, you'll see a menu bar for customization categories. First, choose your skin tone and adjust it if needed.

Choose a skin tone then adjust it with the slider at the bottom of the skin tone palette window.

Adjust your facial features

Once you're happy with your skin tone, select the Face category at the top to adjust your facial features. For each facial feature category, you'll see various presets. Use the right window to refine the look of each facial feature.

In the left window, choose each facial feature category to adjust each of them. There are a variety of preset options for Face Shape, Eyes, EyebrowsNose, Mouth, Ears, Hearing Aids, Face Lines, and Bindi.

Adjust your hair

Select the Hair category in the top menu bar then find a hair style that suits you. Choose your Hair style and Facial hair preset in the left window.

The right window allows for refinement of the color, including the Primary and Accent color.

Apply your makeup

Select the Makeup category in the top menu bar then apply a makeup preset for Eyeshadow, Lashline, Blush, and Lipstick. You can then refine the color in the right window, including the primary and accent colors.

Adjust your body

Select the Body category in the top menu bar then choose a Body Shape preset. There is also the option to select a preset from the Prosthetics category. Once you've chosen a preset body shape, use the right window to refine your body shape to your preference.

Choose your wardrobe

Select the Wardrobe tab then choose your wardrobe from the Underlayer, Outerwear, Headware, and Eyewear categories.

Refine the color of each piece of your wardrobe to make it your own! Use the color refinement window on the right.

Useful customization tools

Filters

To help you quickly find your desired styles, filtering is available for the Hair, Underlayer, Outerwear, and Headgear sections.

You can undo or redo any changes made to your avatar using the Undo or Redo arrows at the top right of your screen.

Zoom in/out of your avatar preview 

As you're customizing your avatar, use the scroll wheel of your mouse to zoom in or out on your avatar preview. 

Rotate your avatar preview 

Select the avatar preview, hold down your left mouse button, and drag your mouse to rotate your avatar preview to see how it looks from different angles.
