Important: These steps are for Microsoft Teams (free) only. They will not work if you are using Teams with your work or school account.

In Microsoft Teams (free), you can share everything that’s important to you, like pictures, files, and links.

Share a photo within Microsoft Teams (free)

  1. Go to the chat you want to share a photo in.

  2. Tap  The Add buttonPlus  next to the Type a message window.

  3. Select Media, where you can: 

    • Tap Camera to use the Camera to take a new picture.

    • Tap Photo library to select images from your device.

      Note: If your Microsoft Teams (free) photo library appears blank, select Native Gallery  Folder button  at the top to view your device's photos.

  4. Once you’ve selected the photo, you can edit the image before selecting Done.

  5. Type a message if you'd like, then tap  The Send button in Teams Send .

Share a file within Microsoft Teams (free)

  1. Go to the chat you want to share a file in.

  2. Tap  The Add buttonPlus next to the Type a message window.

  3. Select Attach a file button​​​​​​​Attach , then select from the files on your device.

  4. Type a message if you'd like, then tap  The Send button in Teams Send .

Share from your device

  1. To share a picture or file, find it on your device and tap  The Share button Share .

  2. Select Teams from the list of applications.

    Note: If Teams isn’t listed in the sharing options, swipe left, select  More options buttonMore , then select Teams to add it to the sharing options.

  3. If you have more than one account signed into Teams, tap the down arrow by your profile picture and select which account you'd like to send from.

  4. Enter a message in the Type a message field if you'd like.

  5. You can Search people or groups, or you can choose from the Recent chats list.

  6. Tap  The Send button in TeamsSend .

You can also send a link to a OneDrive file in a chat.

  1. Go to the chat you want to share a file in.

  2. Tap The Add buttonPlus next to the Type a message window.

  3. Select  Attach a file buttonAttach, then select from the files on your device.

  4. Type a message if you'd like, then tap  The Send button in Teams​​​​​​​Send .

Share from your device

  1. To share a picture or file, find it on your device and tap  The Share buttonShare .

  2. Select Teams from the list of applications.

    Note: If Teams isn’t listed in the sharing options, swipe left, select  More options buttonMore , then select Teams to add it to the sharing options.

  3. If you have more than one account signed into Teams, tap the down arrow by your profile picture and select which account you'd like to send from.

  4. Enter a message in the Type a message field if you'd like.

  5. You can Search for people or groups, or you can choose from the Recent chats list.

  6. Tap   The Send button in TeamsSend .

You can also send a link to a OneDrive file in a chat.

Send a picture or file

  1. Go to the chat you want to share files in.

  2. Select  Attach a file buttonAttach Files below the Type a new message field.

  3. Select Upload from my computer, select the picture or file, and then select Open.

  4. Type a message if you'd like, then select  The Send button in TeamsSend  to send your picture or file to the chat.

Send a link

Copy a link from your browser or another source and paste it into a chat. Once sent, chat participants can select the link to open it or right-click and copy the link.

Note: If the link supports metadata, it will display details about the link you shared with your group.
