Set up Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset

Microsoft accessoriesCongratulations on getting your new Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset. The first step is to plug Microsoft Surface USB Link into the USB port on your Windows 10/11 PC or Mac, or pair it over Bluetooth if you’re using your mobile phone. After that, set it up in the Microsoft Accessory Center app on your PC. The Microsoft Accessory Center app lets you update your headset, personalize settings for it, and more.
Download and install the Microsoft Accessory Center app from the Microsoft Store on your PC by using the link below.

Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset is Certified for Microsoft Teams when you use it with the included Microsoft USB Link on your Windows 10/11 PC or Mac. For info about how to use your headset for calls and meetings in Microsoft Teams, see Use Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset in Microsoft Teams.

Connect your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset
To get started, plug Microsoft USB link into your Windows 10/11 PC or Mac, or pair your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset over Bluetooth if you're using your mobile phone.

Plug Microsoft USB Link into the USB port on your Windows 10/11 PC.

Slide the Power button on to turn on your headset.
You'll hear a message saying it's connected to Microsoft USB Link. The LED lights on both your Surface USB Link and headset will be solid white.
Your Mac needs to be running macOS 11/10.14.

Plug Microsoft USB Link into the USB port on your Mac.

Slide the Power button on to turn on your headset.
You'll hear a message saying it's connected to Microsoft USB Link. The LED lights on both your Surface USB Link and headset will be solid white.

On your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset, slide the Power button on.

Press and hold the Bluetooth pairing button for about 5 seconds to put your headset into pairing mode. You'll hear a message saying it's ready to pair and the LED light will flash white.

On your Android, open Bluetooth settings.

Make sure Bluetooth is turned on, then tap Pair new device > Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset.

On your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset, slide the Power button on.

Press and hold the Bluetooth pairing button for about 5 seconds to put your headset into pairing mode. You'll hear a message saying it's ready to pair and the LED light will flash white.

On your iOS device, open Settings, and then tap Bluetooth.

Make sure Bluetooth is turned on, then tap Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset under Other Devices.
Set up your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset in the Microsoft Accessory Center app
The Microsoft Accessory Center app on your Windows 10/11 PC lets you update your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset, personalize settings for it, and much more. Here’s how to set it up.

Make sure your headset is turned on. If it's not on, slide the Power button on to turn on your headset.

Select the Start button, then select Microsoft Accessory Center in the app list.
Your headset should be connected automatically. -
In Microsoft Accessory Center, select Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset, and then change the settings for your headset.
Charge your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset
Use the included USB cable to charge your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset. Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset can fully charge in 2.5 hours. After that, get up to 50 hours1 of music listening time or up to 30 hours of talk time on a Microsoft Teams call2.

Music: Testing conducted by Microsoft on March 2021 using Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset with firmware update 1.37.129 paired with Surface Pro 3. Playlist consisted of 44 songs transmitted using SBC encoding. Volume was set to 50%. Bluetooth A2DP profile was used. Testing consisted of full Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset battery discharge while playing audio until the Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset disconnected from the host device. Battery life depends on device settings, environment, usage, and many other factors.

Charge your headset

Plug the USB cable into your Windows 10/11 PC or into a power outlet (if you're using a USB power adapter, which isn't included).

Plug the other end into the USB-C port on your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset. The light will flash amber while charging and appear solid white when your headset is fully charged.
When you turn on your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset, you'll hear how much battery you have left. You can also check the battery level anytime in the Microsoft Accessory Center app on your PC.
Update your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset
Get the best experience from your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset by keeping it up to date with the latest improvements. To install updates for your headset, use the Microsoft Accessory Center app on your Windows 10/11 PC.

Set up your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset in the Microsoft Accessory Center app if you haven't already.

Open the Microsoft Accessory Center app, and then select Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset.

Select Device details. If an update is available and you’re prompted to download and install it, select Update, then follow the instructions.
The update will take a few minutes to download and install. After the download, your headset will need to restart to finish installing the update. If your headset doesn't restart after a few minutes, slide the Power button off, then slide it back on to turn on your headset and reconnect.
Note: Any updates for Microsoft USB Link are installed through Windows Update on your Windows 10/11 PC. To see if any updates are available for Microsoft USB Link, plug it into your Windows 10/11 PC. In Windows 10, select Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for updates. In Windows 11, select Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates.
Reset Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset
If you're having problems with your Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset, you can do a hardware reset for your headset.
Before you start, make sure your headset is sufficiently charged.

Plug in your headset using the USB cable.

Slide the Power button on to turn on your headset.

Press and hold the Answer/end call button for more than 10 seconds. While still holding down the Answer/end call button, press and release the Bluetooth pairing button.
You'll hear a message saying your headset is on and how much battery you have left. -
Release the Answer/end call button.
