Current status of Windows 10, version 1703

Windows 10, version 1703 has reached end of service for all editions. To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends updating to the latest version of Windows 10.

Surface Hub devices remain in support. Starting on November 12, 2019, updates for Windows 10, version 1703 will be available only for Surface Hub devices. Update information and Surface Hub known issues will be listed on this page.

Improvements and fixes

This security update includes quality improvements. Key changes include:

  • Addresses an issue with evaluating the compatibility status of the Windows ecosystem to help ensure application and device compatibility for all updates to Windows.

  • Changes the default behavior in ASP.NET for the SameSite cookie header to align with changes other industry partners are making. For more information, see Work with SameSite cookies in ASP.NET.

  • Security updates to Windows Virtualization, Windows Kernel, Windows Peripherals, the Microsoft Scripting Engine, and Windows Server.

If you installed earlier updates, only the new fixes contained in this package will be downloaded and installed on your device.

Windows Update Improvements

Microsoft has released an update directly to the Windows Update client to improve reliability. Any device running Windows 10 configured to receive updates automatically from Windows Update, including Enterprise and Pro editions, will be offered the latest Windows 10 feature update based on device compatibility and Windows Update for Business deferral policy. This doesn't apply to long-term servicing editions.

After installing this update, you might encounter issues with applications that use embedded HTML and SameSite cookies across sites or iframes.

To align with industry partners, the default behavior of the SameSite cookie header in ASP.NET has been changed. To mitigate this issue, see Work with SameSite cookies in ASP.NET.

Microsoft strongly recommends you install the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system before installing the latest cumulative update (LCU).
