Device Performance and Health in the Windows Security App
Applies To
Windows 11 Windows 10The device performance and health page in the Windows Security app provides a comprehensive health report for your device. This report helps you monitor and maintain your device's performance and security by alerting you to common issues and offering recommendations to address them.
View the health report for your device in Windows Security
In the Windows Security app on your Windows device, select Device performance & health or use the following shortcut:
Device performance & health
Note: if your device is managed by an organization, policy settings might prevent you from accessing Device performance & health.
The health report starts off by showing you the last time a health scan was run. The time displayed should be the current time, since Windows Security runs a scan when you open the Device performance & health page.
The health report covers the following areas:
-
Storage capacity: It checks if your system is running low on disk space and provides recommendations to free up space if needed
-
Battery life: For devices with batteries, it checks if anything is putting an extra strain on your battery and offers suggestions to improve battery life
-
Apps and software: It monitors your software for any failures or updates required to ensure everything is running smoothly
-
Windows Time service: It ensures your system clock is synchronized correctly, which is important for many system processes. If the service is off or failing, it provides steps to fix it
If any issues are detected, the report will provide specific recommendations to resolve them, helping you keep your device in optimal condition
What if the health report detects problems?
A green check means everything is fine, but if you see a yellow mark that means something needs attention. Select the item to review any recommendations.
