Add your existing photo albums from Photos legacy to Microsoft Photos
The new Microsoft Photos app groups your photos differently than the previous version did, collecting them in folders (like your other Windows files) rather than albums. However, you can copy your albums from Photos legacy and add them to the Folders section of the new version of Microsoft Photos.
You can begin to add your Photos legacy albums from Settings , or add them from Folders under the navigation menu in the app. Once your albums are added to Folders, you can find them in the folder named Legacy Albums in the left navigation.
If your photo albums cannot be copied to the Folders section, you can still view your albums in the new Microsoft Photos app by backing them up to OneDrive and viewing them there. Here's how:
-
Download and install Microsoft Photos Legacy from the Microsoft Store. You can find the installation link inside Photos by selecting Settings , then navigating to the About section, then Photos Legacy, and selecting the Get Photos Legacy button.
-
In the Photos legacy app, back up your entire album collection to your personal OneDrive account.
-
When your albums are successfully uploaded to OneDrive, return to the new Microsoft Photos app.
-
Select Memories from the navigation menu. Your uploaded photo albums will be accessible under OneDrive albums.
-
You can view your albums by selecting them in the Photos app, which takes you to their location on OneDrive on the web.
