There are several formatting options for messages.

Some features detailed below are available as part of the public preview program and might undergo further changes before being released publicly. To get access to this and other upcoming features, switch to Teams public preview.

To open your formatting options, select Format Expand button in the compose box. In this expanded view, select the text you want to format, then choose an option such as B, I, or U to bold, italicize, or underline the text.

There are also options for highlighting, font size, lists, and more. See More options More options button for additional formatting options and the buttons below the box for attaching a file or inserting fun stuff like emoji.

Teams underlines spelling errors in red as you type. Right-click the error to see a list of suggested corrections. Currently, you can't run a separate spelling and grammar check in Teams (unless you're working in your Wiki tab).

Tap the Plus sign The Plus button in Teams  > Format Expand button next to your compose box to open the text editor. The editor lets you underline, italicize, or bold text. You can start new paragraphs (without accidentally hitting send), highlight text, or change the color of text.
