To get premium Family Safety features like location alerts and drive safety* an organizer in the family will need to buy a Microsoft 365 Family subscription. You can do this online or in the Family Safety app.

Family Safety app
Organizers can buy a subscription several ways in the app. Look for the diamond icon in settings and around premium features to see subscription options.
Map
From your family map, tap a family member > Arrives and departs > Go premium > select a Monthly or Annual subscription > Go premium > Complete your purchase with the App Store or Google Play

You can get to subscription options from the main settings screen or a premium feature under settings.

Drive safety card
This option is currently only available to organizers with Microsoft accounts based in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia.
From a family member’s activities, find a drive safety card > Get drive safety > Go premium > select a Monthly or Annual subscription > Go premium > Complete your purchase with the App Store or Google Play

Go to Microsoft 365 for home and review the Microsoft 365 Family options. You can purchase the subscription for the year, on a monthly basis, or try it for 1 month for free.
What if I already have Microsoft 365 Personal?
You can switch, but it depends on where you purchased your subscription.
If you already purchased a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription from Microsoft:

Purchase Microsoft 365 Family using the same Microsoft account as your current subscription.

The remaining days on your current subscription are automatically added to your new subscription.

If you already purchased a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store:

On your device, go to Settings > [your name] > iTunes & App Stores > Subscriptions and Cancel Subscription.

Your subscription benefits will continue 15 days after the date your subscription was set to renew, but you won't be charged.

After this time has passed, go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Subscriptions > purchase a Microsoft 365 Family subscription.

On your device, go to the Google Play Store.

Make sure you're signed in to the Google Account used to purchase the subscription.

Go to ☰ (Menu) > Subscriptions > select your Microsoft 365 Personal subscription > Cancel subscription > follow any further instructions from Google Play Store.
