Elevate your content with Copilot in Word

One great way to use Copilot in Word is to help you write better. Just select some text that you want Copilot to help with and ask it to suggest rewrites. Copilot can take your good writing, and help you make it better.

Rewrite text

Available on the Web, Windows, Mac OS, and iPad

  1. Select the text you want Copilot to rewrite.

  2. In the left margin next to your text, select the Logo icon for Copilot in WordCopilot icon.

  3. From the left margin Copilot menu, select Auto Rewrite.

  4. Copilot will show you rewritten options to choose from.

  5. Select Replace to use the revised text, Insert below to insert the rewritten text below the current text, Icon for regenerating results for Copilot in WordRegenerate to regenerate Copilot's suggestions, Icon for the adjust tone feature in Copilot in WordAdjust tone to adjust the rewritten text for tone.

Interactive rewriting

  1. After selecting the text, use the Copilot menu to choose the Auto-rewrite option.

  2. After Copilot displays the rewritten text options, use the arrows to navigate through the different versions and select the one you prefer.

  3. To modify the AI-generated text to your preference, begin typing directly within the suggestion box.

  4. Your edits will update the content in real-time, allowing for immediate refinement.

  5. When satisfied, select Replace to use the revised text in your document.

This new interactive feature streamlines the editing process, giving you full control over the final output of your text.

Convert text to a table

  1. Select the text you want Copilot to turn into a table.

  2. In the left margin next to your text, select the Logo icon for Copilot in WordCopilot icon.

  3. From the left margin Copilot menu, select Visualize as a Table.

  4. Copilot will show you what the table will look like.

  5. Select Keep it to insert the table into your document, Icon for regenerating results for Copilot in WordRegenerate to regenerate Copilot's generated table, or Icon for discarding a response in Copilot in WordDiscard to remove the table.

  6. To fine tune the table, enter details into the Copilot compose box to state what to change about the table, like "Add an empty third column."​​​​​​​​​​​
