Fixing contact syncing problems with Surface Duo
Applies ToSurface Duo Surface Privacy

If you are experiencing problems with syncing contacts between Google Contacts and Outlook on your Surface Duo after you have set it up to do so, here are some things to try.

If contacts aren't syncing at all

If you aren't seeing any contacts sync after adding a new account, try the following:

  1. Make sure the account you want to sync can be found in the Outlook app. (If this is the first time launching the Outlook app you may need to wait for a few minutes while your contacts sync.)

  2. Then, launch the Google Contacts app, tap the account circle, and tap the account you want to sync with your phone. You should start seeing contacts sync now.

  3. If you contacts are not syncing after doing the above, then continue on and follow the steps in the section below.

If contacts synced at one time, but are not syncing now

If the above steps didn't fix the problem, or if you had contacts sync at one time but have since stopped syncing, try the following:

  1. Launch Outlook, tap the account circle in the upper left corner, then tap the Settings icon in the lower left of the menu.

  2. Tap the account that is no longer syncing.

  3. If Sync contacts is disabled, enable it. If Sync contacts is enabled, tap it to disable it, wait a moment, and then tap it again to re-enable it.

  4. Wait a few minutes, and see if your contacts are syncing now.
