Change your display settings

Font size

Make the text on your Surface Duo larger by changing the font size. For more details, go to Android Accessibility Help: Font size and display size.

To change your font size, go to Settings > Accessibility > Text and displayFont size, then drag the slider.

Display size

Make items, like apps, on your screens larger by adjusting the display size. For more details, go to Android Accessibility Help: Font size and display size.

To change your display size, go to Settings > Accessibility > Text and displayDisplay size then drag the slider.

Extra dim

Dim your screen beyond the minimum brightness level to make it easier on your eyes when reading. For more details, go to Android Accessibility Help: Font size and display size

To turn on extra dim, go to Settings > Accessibility, then turn on Extra dim. Tap Extra dim to change more settings for it.

Dark theme

When you use dark theme, the accent and background colors on your device will be darker than the default. This might help your eyes feel less strained, especially while using your Surface Duo in darker places. (Some apps might not support dark theme.) For more details, go to Android Accessibility Help: Dark theme.

To turn on Dark theme, go to Settings > Accessibility > Dark theme.

You can also schedule dark theme to turn on at a specific time. To do this, go to Settings > Display > Dark theme > Schedule.

Use magnification

With magnification, you can zoom in or magnify to see things on your screen better. Keep magnification on all the time if you’d like things to stay bigger, or use it whenever you need to see something better. For more details and a full list of magnification gestures, go to Android Accessibility Help: Magnification.

Change your magnification settings by going to Settings Accessibility Magnification > Magnification shortcut. Tap Magnification shortcut, and then choose Swipe up with 2 fingers, Hold volume keys, or Advanced > Triple-tap screen.

Color correction

Color correction allows you to completely change the color scheme of your screens. This can be helpful if you have color blindness. For more details, go to Android Accessibility Help: Color correction.

To turn on color correction, go to Settings > Accessibility Text and display > Color correction then turn on Use color correction.

Color inversion

Use color inversion to invert the colors on the screens of your Surface Duo, creating an effect like a photo negative. This might help if you have sensitivity to light or low vision—it reduces the amount of bright white light and increases the contrast between items. For more details, go to Android Accessibility Help: Color inversion

Turn on color inversion by going to Settings > Accessibility Text and display > Color inversion.

Turn on high contrast by going to Settings > Accessibility > Text and display > High contrast text.

Large mouse pointer

If you connect a mouse to your Surface Duo, you can turn on the toggle for Large mouse pointer.

To make your mouse pointer larger, go to Settings > Accessibility Text and display, then turn on Large mouse pointer.

Remove animations

Some actions on your device will come with animations. For example, when you open an app, its icon might pop as the app opens. If you are a person with seizure triggers or you find these animations distracting, you can turn them off.

To remove animations, go to Settings > AccessibilityText and display, then turn on Remove animations.

High contrast text

Use high contrast text to make the text on your screen stand out: strongly contrasting colors can make it quicker and easier to read from your device. For more details, go to Android Accessibility Help: High contrast text.

Night Light

When you use Night Light, the amount of blue light your screens emit is decreased, leaving your screens looking warmer and a little easier on the eyes.

Turn on Night Light by going to Settings > Display > Night Light and then tap Schedule or Use Night Light.
