Microsoft considers the Japanese era change of high importance and is working across the company to prepare our solutions for the 2019 change.
This information is also available in Japanese here.
We plan to support the new era for most products listed within the support lifecycle policy that are affected. Check our knowledge base articles below for specific product information. You can also look up product support timelines on our support lifecycle policy page.
The new era name was announced April 1, 2019. Our engineering teams have begun releasing production updates in phases, which may take up to a few months to fully complete. This approach factors in time needed to address technical issues that may arise during that process. Our support teams will assist customers throughout the process.
For Home and Consumer customers
If you have Automatic Updates turned on for Windows and Office, your software should be up-to-date, and should receive the necessary updates to handle the era change appropriately. If automatic updates haven't been enabled, or if you want to check for updates manually, see How to prepare Windows and Office for the new Japanese era change.
