ISSUE
When a delegate with full access permissions tries to search in a Shared Mailbox using “Current Folder” as the search scope, the following message will be shown “Outlook cannot perform your search”. This error appears at the bottom of the message list, and it appears that search did not actually run or returns no results. This issue starts occurring after updating to Version 2403.
STATUS: FIXED
The Outlook Team mitigated this issue by turning off a feature and making a change from the service. To have Outlook Desktop pick up the service change restart Outlook. If you reverted Outlook to the prior build, make sure to update to the latest build by selecting File > Office Account > Update Options, then Update Now. If you mitigated by disabling Download Shared Folders, you can re-enable it as well. For more information, go to Turn on Cached Exchange Mode.
The feature change that caused the issue and that was turned off included being able to search archives of shared mailboxes. Pulling the feature will cause the inability to search shared/delegate subfolders (you can still search the current folder), and the ability to search the Online Archive for shared/delegate mailboxes. After the fixes are implemented, the Outlook Team will re-enable these capabilities.
