When a table is created, Power Query often automatically detects column headers and promotes them if necessary. However, you can also promote a first row to column headers or demote column headers to the first row when you need to.

Procedure

To open a query, locate one previously loaded from the Power Query Editor, select a cell in the data, and then select Query > Edit. For more information see Create, load, or edit a query in Excel.

Do one of the following:

To promote the first row to column headers, select Home > Use First Row As Headers.

To demote column headers to the first row, select Home, select the arrow next to Use First Row As Headers, and then select Use Headers as First Row.
