The Comments field code inserts contents of the Comments box on the Summary tab in the Properties dialog box. To view the Properties dialog box:

In Windows, click File > Info > Properties (on the right side), and then click Advanced Properties.

On a Mac, on the File menu, click Properties. In the Properties dialog box, click the Summary tab.

Windows: Click File > Info > Properties (on the right side), and then click Advanced Properties.

Mac: On the File menu, click Properties. In the Properties dialog box, click the Summary tab.

Syntax

When you view the Comments field code in your document, the syntax looks like this:

{ COMMENTS ["NewComments" ] }

Note: A field code tells the field what to show. Field results are what is shown in the document after having evaluated the field code. To toggle between viewing the field code and the field code results, press Alt+F9.

Instructions

"NewComments"

Optional text that replaces the current contents of the Comments box. The text can contain no more than 255 characters and must be enclosed in quotation marks.

Examples

In the following example, a Fill-In field prompts for new comments. Microsoft Word prints your response (for instance, "Revisions resulting from management review") in place of the Comments field in the document and adds your revised response to the Comments box in the Properties dialog box.
