In Windows 11, notification center and the quick settings panel are where you'll find app notifications and quick settings—which give you quick access to commonly used settings and apps. You can change your notification settings at any time from the Settings app.

Customize notifications

  1. Select Start  > Settings   > System > Notifications . ​​​​​​​Change notification settings

  2. Select Notifications to expand it, and/or turn them On or Off. Set the check boxes for any of the following: you can Allow notifications to play sounds, you can Show notifications on the lock screen, or you can Show reminders and incoming VoIP calls on the lock screen.

  3. You can also set Do not disturb settings, where notifications won't pop up on your screen or make a sound, but will still be accessible in the notification center. This can be turned On and Off at will, or you can schedule it for certain times of day or during certain events. You can also allow some notifications event through the do not disturb filter in Set priority notifications

Add or remove quick settings

  1. Select, or press and hold, the battery, network, or volume icon    to open the quick settings panel.

  2. Select the Edit quick settings icon.

  3. Select the Add button to add a quick setting or press the pin icon on the quick setting you want to remove. 

    Note: To rearrange the icons, you can press and hold (or select) any quick settings, then drag them.

  4. When you are finished editing your quick settings, select Done.

In Windows 10, action center is where you'll find your app notifications and quick actions—which give you quick access to commonly used settings and apps. Change your action center settings at any time from the Settings app.

  1. Select Start  > Settings  > System > Notifications & actions .

  2. To change notification settings for all senders, under Notifications, set Get notifications from apps and other senders to On or Off. Set the check boxes for any of the following: you can Show notifications on the lock screen, you can Show reminders and incoming VoIP calls on the lock screen, or you can Allow notifications to play sounds.

  3. You can also look for an individual app under Get notifications from these senders, select it, and decide whether you want notifications from this app On or Off, and if you want them On, whether you want that app to Show notification banners, Show notifications in action center, or Play a sound when a notification arrives, as well as how many appear and how they are prioritized. 

Add or remove quick actions

To edit your quick actions in action center:

  1. Select the Edit your quick actions link at the top of the Notifications & actions Settings page.

  2. Action center will open with quick actions in edit mode. Select the Add button to add a quick action or press the pin icon on the quick action you want to remove.​​​​​​​

    Note: To rearrange the icons, you can press and hold (or select) any quick actions, then drag them.

  3. When you are finished editing your quick actions, select Done.
