Summary

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) makes sure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

This SSU update includes changes for Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager customers, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM), and Enterprise customers who use offline OS image servicing to build or maintain OS images. These changes are needed for offline OS image serviced devices to make those devices compatible with future cumulative update packages where updates dated from March 22, 2022 to before May 10, 2022 were not installed.

This servicing stack update applies to the following:

  • Windows 10, version 20H2 for x86-based versions

  • Windows 10, version 20H2 for x64-based versions

  • Windows 10, version 20H2 for Arm64-based versions

  • Windows 10, version 21H1 for x86-based versions

  • Windows 10, version 21H1 for x64-based versions

  • Windows 10, version 21H1 for Arm64-based versions

  • Windows 10, version 21H2 for x86-based versions

  • Windows 10, version 21H2 for x64-based versions

  • Windows 10, version 21H2 for Arm64-based versions

IMPORTANT Windows 10, version 2004 reached end of servicing on December 14, 2021. To continue receiving security and quality updates, Microsoft recommends that you upgrade to a later version of Windows.
