Important: The information in this article applies to Clipchamp for personal accounts. To learn how to access Clipchamp for work or school accounts instead, see this FAQ.

Clipchamp is a Microsoft product, which means Clipchamp’s pricing plans that you might have seen until November 2022 have changed.

What does this mean for Clipchamp users?

All users of Clipchamp for personal accounts who would like to upgrade to access premium features require a personal or family Microsoft account.

This can be achieved by linking a Microsoft account to an existing Clipchamp account or logging into Clipchamp using a Microsoft account. If you don't have a personal Microsoft account yet that you can link in Clipchamp, you will need to create one.

How to connect a Microsoft account to an existing Clipchamp account

For existing Clipchamp users using a non-Microsoft account login, connect your Microsoft account for access to purchase the premium subscription from the Microsoft Store.

Existing Clipchamp users will only be able to upgrade to the paid plan after switching to a Microsoft account.

Frequently asked questions

I can't link my Microsoft account as I am part of a larger organization/education institution. What can I do to get the Premium plan?

The Premium plan is available in Clipchamp for personal accounts and you'll need a personal or family Microsoft account to use it. To access Clipchamp with a work or school account and use it in your organization or educational institution, see this article.

I don’t want to switch to the Premium plan, can I still use my existing subscription?

We discontinued all legacy paid subscription plans - Creator, Business, Business Platinum - in November 2022. Premium is currently the only standalone subscription option for Clipchamp that enables access to all premium features. In addition, if you're on a Microsoft 365 personal or family plan, some (but not all) Clipchamp premium options are enabled for you.

I bought the Clipchamp Premium plan through the Microsoft store, how do I use Clipchamp/my new entitlement?

If the user is a new user:

  1. Download Clipchamp through the Microsoft app store.

  2. Register with your personal Microsoft account that you used to purchase Clipchamp.

  3. You should be able to use all the features provided within Premium now.

If the user is an existing user:

  1. Log in to Clipchamp using your account.

  2. If you did not log in using your Microsoft account, make sure you link your personal Microsoft account in your profile settings.

  3. After you’ve linked your Microsoft account, you should get the new entitlements as part of the Premium plan. (Refresh if you did not see it recognized).
