Applies ToOutlook for Microsoft 365

ISSUE

When you send an email from your Outlook.com account, Outlook crashes. This issue happens for users on the Current Channel (Preview) channel on build 17029.20028.

STATUS: FIXED

The fix for this issue has released in Version 2311 Build 17029.20068. To install the update, select File > Office AccountUpdate OptionsUpdate Now. If you disabled updates, make sure to re-enable updates by selecting File Office AccountUpdate OptionsEnable Updates.

WORKAROUND

The issue is fixed in future builds 17029.20052+.

To workaround the issue, use the steps below to revert to the prior working build:

  1. Open a Command Prompt window, from Windows search box type Command Prompt, right click on Command Prompt and click Run as administrator.

  2. Paste the commands below into the Command Prompt window and press Enter after each:

    • cd %programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun

    • officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.16924.20124
