Unlike other versions of Windows 10, Windows 10 Pro EDU and Windows 10 for Workstations must be activated over the Internet. Until your PC connects to the Internet, you won’t receive notifications or reminders to activate. If you’re having trouble with your Internet connection, see Fix network connection issues in Windows.
When your PC does connect to the Internet, activation happens automatically. Learn more about activation in Windows 10
Notes:
-
Phone activation isn’t available for these editions.
-
The SLUI 04 command shouldn’t be used—it won’t produce a usable installation ID or confirmation ID.
-
You can only enter a new product key by going to Settings > Update & Security > Activation and selecting Change product key. Command line tools like slmgr.vbs won’t allow a product key from either of these two editions to be injected into Windows.
-
The Product ID on the Settings > System > About page isn’t unique to the Windows 10 key being used. It only reflects that you’re running either Windows 10 Pro for Workstations or Windows 10 Pro EDU.
