Clipchamp automatically saves your progress every few seconds as you make edits in a project. This means that there's no need to worry about clicking "save" in the video editor to save changes. However, make sure you are connected to the internet because this process requires an active network connection.
When you're done editing and want to save your finished video to your computer, you will need to export it - learn how to export your finished video.
Clipchamp for personal accounts
In Clipchamp's personal version, which is the one you access with a personal or family Microsoft account, we recommend you keep your original media files (the personal video, image, and audio files you added to a Clipchamp project) on your computer without changing or deleting them. This is because you might need to relink these source files when you re-open an editing project later.
Alternatively, on the Clipchamp Premium plan you can enable Content Backup in your Clipchamp videos to securely back up media files to the cloud. This way you don't have to worry about relinking files and will be able to access your projects from any computer, because they will be stored online and load into the Clipchamp project when you open it.
Clipchamp for work and school accounts
In Clipchamp for work and school, media files that you use in editing projects get backed up to your work or education account's OneDrive automatically and they are getting retrieved from there if they need to get relinked. Make sure that you don't move the media files that are in use in a project from the project's corresponding Assets folder in OneDrive/SharePoint.
What if I sign out or close the browser?
If you sign out of Clipchamp, close the desktop app or browser page, or close your browser, you will be able to access and continue editing your editing project when you return to Clipchamp and sign into the same account again.
