ASL avatars can be used to add inclusive emphasis to your Clipchamp project for free. A range of digital characters are available to visually express 16 common ASL phrases.

Adding an ASL avatar as an overlay to your video

To start your Clipchamp project, add a video by selecting Import media.
Note: You can also create your own video using Clipchamp’s content library.

Select the desired video and select Open.

Select Add to timeline (green+) on the video or drag and drop the video on the timeline.

To add the ASL avatar over the video, select Graphics.

From the Stickers section, select See more.

Scroll to the Sign language section and select See more to reveal all the avatar options.

Select Add to timeline (green+) on the ASL avatar of your choice or drag and drop the ASL avatar where you want it to appear on the video.

Adjust the position and size of the ASL avatar by moving it on the stage.
Adding an ASL avatar in a split-screen layout

Follow the steps in Adding an ASL avatar as an overlay to your video

Move the ASL avatar to one side of the preview screen.

Drag the video to the opposite side of the ASL avatar.

To adjust into split-screen, use Crop on the floating toolbar.
Note: You can also drag and drop an ASL avatar to a blank timeline and use it as a standalone clip.
Saving the video

To save the video, select Export.

Choose the video resolution in the Export dropdown.
Tip: For high quality, 1080p resolution is recommended.
