Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

  • You have a computer that runs Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, or Windows Server 2012 R2.

  • You log on the computer as a non-administrator user.

  • You try to turn on or off the Set as metered connectionslider for Wi-Fi and mobile broadband connections in Network in PC settings.

In this scenario, you can turn on or off the Set as metered connection slider. However, the configuration does not work. When you reopen Network in PC Settings, the option is reverted.

Cause

This issue occurs because Windows does not check the user account before it changes the Set as metered connection slider.Note Non-administrator users should be unable to change the Set as metered connection setting.

Resolution
