Note:  Microsoft 365 apps and services discontinued supporting Internet Explorer 11 in starting August 2021. More details are available here.  Internet Explorer 11 is a component of the Windows operating system and Microsoft is committed to following the Lifecycle Policy for the product on which it is installed. We recommend that Internet Explorer users switch to Microsoft Edge.

For the best security and functionality, keep your web browser up to date. All modern browsers, including the new Microsoft Edge, should update automatically.  You should make sure your browser has auto-updates enabled. Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer get their updates through Windows Update. Always install updates as soon as they become available.

For more information, see Frequently Asked Questions about Windows Update.

To obtain Microsoft Edge, go to Download Microsoft Edge Web Browser.

Desktop and laptop computers

For the best experience with Microsoft 365 for the web, use the most recent versions of a browser compatible with your system.

  • Windows 11: The new Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome

  • Windows 10: The new Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome

  • MacOS: The new Microsoft Edge, Apple Safari (version 16 or newer), or Chrome

  • Linux: Microsoft 365 for the web works in the new Microsoft Edge, Firefox or Chrome on Linux. Although, some features may not be available.

If your organization used the older Internet Explorer 8 or 9 to access older web apps and services, consider moving to IE Mode for the new Microsoft Edge

iOS Devices

On iOS devices, we recommend using the Microsoft 365 mobile apps which are available via the Apple App Store.

No browsers on Android are officially supported with Microsoft 365 for the web. As an alternative, consider using Microsoft 365 for Android apps, available in the Google Play store.

Other devices

Most Microsoft 365 for the web features will work in the Microsoft Edge browser on HoloLens or Xbox One.
