This article is for people who use a screen reader program such as Windows Narrator, JAWS, or NVDA with Windows tools or features and Microsoft 365 products. Use To Do with your keyboard and a screen reader to show and manage your Microsoft Planner tasks in To Do. We have tested it with Narrator, JAWS, and NVDA, but it might work with other screen readers as long as they follow common accessibility standards and techniques.

Show your Planner tasks in To Do

Show your Planner tasks in the Assigned to Me list in To Do and get them done at the same time as your individual tasks.

  1. Sign in to To Do with the same personal, work, or school account that you use for Planner.

  2. Press F6 until you hear "Sidebar, user menu," followed by your username, and then press Enter. You hear: "Pop-up window, manage accounts."

  3. Press the Down arrow key until you hear "Settings," and then press Enter. The Settings window opens.

  4. Switch your screen reader to virtual navigation, and then press the Down arrow key until you hear: "Assigned to me, toggle switch, off." To switch on the Assigned to me option, press Spacebar.

  5. In the Settings window, to connect Planner with To Do, press the Down arrow key until you hear "Planner, toggle switch, off," and then press Spacebar.

  6. To exit the Settings window, press the Tab key or Shift+Tab until you hear "Go back," and then press Enter. The focus returns to the To Do main view.

Navigate to the Assigned to Me list

In the Assigned to Me list in To Do, you can find all of the Planner tasks that appear in the Planner My Tasks view. You can manage the tasks in the Assigned to Me list like any other tasks.

  1. In To Do, press F6 until you hear "Sidebar, user menu," followed by your username.

  2. Press the Down arrow key until you hear "Assigned to me," and then press Enter.

  3. Switch your screen reader to focus navigation, and then press the Right arrow key once to move the focus to the Assigned to Me list view.

  4. To browse the items in the Assigned to Me list, press the Down or Up arrow key.

  5. To select a task and open it in the details view, press Enter.

  6. To move within the details view, use the Tab key and the Down and Up arrow keys.

  7. To exit the details view and return to the Assigned to Me list view, press Esc.
