The Response Pending fields indicate whether an acknowledgment has been received from team members assigned to tasks.

How Calculated As soon as you send assignment updates to the team members assigned to a task, Microsoft Office Project enters Yes in the Response Pending field. As soon as you receive all responses from all assigned team members, the Yes changes to No.
Best Uses Add the Response Pending field, along with the Confirmed field, to a task sheet to track your negotiation of task assignments with team members.
Example You like to periodically check which tasks have outstanding assignment update responses. You add the Response Pending field to a task sheet. You can then follow up on any pending responses that are causing delays in your task assignments.

How Calculated As soon as you assign a team member to a task and send an update with Microsoft Office Project Server, Microsoft Office Project enters Yes in the Response Pending field. When you receive responses to all assignment update messages sent to this team member, the Yes changes to No.
Best Uses Add the Response Pending field, along with the Confirmed field, to a resource sheet to track the status of task assignments made by using Project Server. This field displays the team members from whom you still need responses in order to complete your assignment settings.
Example You like to periodically check which team members have not responded to assignment updates. You add the Response Pending field to a resource view. You can then follow up on any pending responses that are causing delays in your task assignments.

How Calculated As soon as you assign a team member to a task and send an update with Project Server, Microsoft Office Project enters Yes in the Response Pending field. As soon as you receive a response to this message, the Yes changes to No.
Best Uses Add the Response Pending field, along with the Confirmed field, to the timephased portion of the Task Usage or Resource Usage view to track your negotiation of task assignments with team members with Project Server. You can also manually change the setting in the Response Pending field.
Example You're waiting to receive a response from Chris, who's tentatively assigned to the "Develop estimate" task. If you happen to speak with Chris and learn that Chris won't be able to take on the task, you can change the Response Pending field to No.
