Note: The steps listed in this article will be updated soon to reflect the new Microsoft Planner experience, which is currently rolling out to customers. Learn more about the new Planner in Frequently asked questions about Planner. If you're working from a Government Cloud Communities (GCC), GCC High, or Department of Defense (DoD) environment, continue referring to the instructions in this article.

A plan is considered "linked" when it is also available in another Microsoft app, such as Microsoft Teams or SharePoint. Having a plan be visible and editable in other apps allows you to access and edit the plan and its tasks in a different location, which may include additional context about the plan.

Caution:

  • Changes or deletions you make in a plan in one linked location will happen in all locations in which the plan is linked.

  • Changes to sensitivity labels on a linked file can trigger de-linking. Once de-linked, both will show that Planner Sync has stopped syncing.

See the linked locations for your plan

  1. Open your plan in Planner.

  2. Check to see if your plan is linked: Under the plan's title, it will say Tasks in this plan are linked with other content.

  3. To view the linked locations, select the linked plan's title. You can also select Share to see all plan members and to invite new members.

Linked locations for your plan

Here are some of the main linked locations for Planner plans:

  • Teams : You can add a plan as a tab in a Teams channel. Teams linked locations will be listed under My plans with their plan name, team name, and channel name. You will also be able to see this plan in the Tasks app in Teams.

  • SharePoint: You can add a plan to any SharePoint page as a web part, to appear in board view, chart view, status view, and other views within the context of your SharePoint page. After your plan has been added to a SharePoint page, you'll see a link to that SharePoint page from your plan so you can navigate back and forth between these places.
