It takes a lot of work to create the perfect project plan. With Planner's copy plan feature, you don't have to create perfect plans from scratch any more. You can create a copy of the plan so you can reuse it, or you can copy individual tasks. This article explains how to copy a plan, and which elements of plans will or will not be copied to the new plan.

Copy a plan

  1. In Planner, find the plan that you want to copy.

  2. At the top of your plan, select the three dots (. . .) in the plan's upper-right corner, and then select Copy plan.

You can also find Copy plan in Planner hub by selecting the three dots (. . .) in the upper right of a plan's tile.

Note: If you aren't able to create groups in Planner, you might not be able to copy plans.

  3. In the Copy plan dialog box, your plan is renamed to "Copy of [plan name]". You can change the name of the plan now or later.

  4. Under Copy to Group, choose to copy your plan to any of the plans you area a member of, or create a new group.

If you choose New Group, expand Group options to choose privacy level and add a group description.

  5. Under Include, choose which items you want to copy over for each task: attachments, priority, dates, description, checklist, labels.

  6. Select Copy plan.

At this point, you'll get a notification that the plan is being copied.

  7. When your new plan is ready, it will appear in your Recent plans, and you'll also see another notification alerting you that your new plan is ready and providing a link to it.
