The Committed Planned Start Date field shows the beginning date of the project as committed to in a Portfolio Selection Scenario during resource constraint analysis.

Data Type    Date

Entry Type    Calculated

Best Uses    By working through a resource constraint analysis as part of a Portfolio Selection Scenario, you can adjust planned project dates to accommodate resource availability within a portfolio. You can save multiple Portfolio Selection Scenarios, including various models for planned start and finish dates, for further analysis. After a Portfolio Selection Scenario is committed, the planned start date is saved in the Committed Planned Start Date field for each project.

You can add the Committed Planned Start Date field to Project Center views, reports, or project field Web Parts for review by project and portfolio stakeholders. Individual project managers can adjust their project dates to reflect the values in the Committed Planned Start Dates fields.

Example    As a result of working through the Portfolio Strategy process, you have committed to start implementation of the “Develop SOX-compliant auditing mechanism” project on June 1, 2011. You add the Committed Planned Start Date field to a Project Center view for the benefit of the responsible stakeholders and project managers.

Remarks     In Project Web App you can add this field to a Project Center summary view, for example.
